Fluffy Snow Slime

DIY Snow Slime

This winter we had some pretty cold days. The kind of days where the thought of going outside was just too much, so we had to find things to do around the house. The kids wanted to make some Snow Slime, sometimes called Cloud Slime.

I indulged them but wasn’t really interested, however, this stuff ended up being so fun to play with… even to me… you can see me playing with it here… seriously, it was fun… and we even used the slime for our Valentines this year!

What You’ll Need

snow slime

Snow Slime is easy to make and really only requires 3 ingredients plus water, and of course, you’ll need a couple of bowls, and some mixing utensils, but this is generally pretty easy and comes together better than many other slimes have. This slime also has no Borax, though a natural ingredient, it is often one many parents are against.

Here you can see Emmy making it… she had so much fun! Below are written instructions.

How To Make the Snow Slime

  1. Pour 2 and 2/3 cups of glue into a bowl
  2. Measure 2/3 cup of contact solution
  3. Add the saline solution to the glue 1 TBSP at a time, mixing in between Tablespoons
  4. In a separate bowl add 1/3 cup of Instant Snow
  5. Add 2/3 cup of warm water to the Instant Snow and mix it up
  6. Pour the snow into the glue and mix
  7. Have fun!

Wonder what it looks like, here is a little closer view. It really has a snow appearance and was perfect for a snow day inside!

Storing Slime

The slime needs to be stored in an airtight container. We have used something as simple as ziplock bags but they tend to not get closed all the time and it is a bit wasteful to use plastic bags for slime. Using some reusable plastic containers is helpful for longer storage or even upcycle glass containers for this purpose.

Valentine’s Day Slime

We loved this slime so much that we made more and passed it out as valentines at our local co-op’s Valentine’s Day party… it was actually snow-themed this year, so that made it extra fun. To do that we purchased small containers, labeled them, and put a cute “homemade with love” sticker on them!

You might be thinking slime is a terrible gift or valentine but unlike many slimes, this one isn’t sticky or messy and unlike many valentines, this slime will be played with and have use beyond the moment. As a mom, if I didn’t know about this I might be hesitant because slime sounds messy, but I can say that after playing with it… I wouldn’t think twice about it.

I hope you enjoy making this and having fun with it. There are so many ways to play with Snow Slime… adding arctic animals for arctic play is one that I think would be fun for little ones. This slime would make a perfect addition to a snow study, an arctic study, or a winter study… making it even perfect for homeschooling or homework projects!

Stay warm and have fun,

BEM + Fam 🙂
